Militarisation of Children and Young People 31 August, 2015 6 – 7:30pm St John’s Church Hall Tickets £5 here or from Just Festival Box Office at There has been growing discomfort around increasing levels of promotion of the military and ‘military ethos’ among children and young people. Does the military have a place in schools? What kind of character do we want our children and young people to build? Is there a justification for recruiting children to the armed services?

CND (UK) welcomed Corbyn Iraq apology
CND Chair Dave Webb said:

“As a coalition partner in the anti-war protests against the Iraq invasion in 2003, CND welcomes Jeremy Corbyn’s statement today.

“The Iraq war was immoral and illegal. As is now painfully clear, the humanitarian catastrophe the anti-war movement predicted became a reality, with hundreds of thousands dead and many more made victims of injury and poverty.

“An apology will signal an important break from the disastrous wars carried out under the banner of the War on Terror and help prevent future wars.
CND General Secretary Kate Hudson said:

“CND still believes that former Prime Minister Tony Blair should stand trial for his actions. The hundreds of thousands killed in an illegal invasion, and the continuing bloodshed, is what Blair will be remembered for. He must not be allowed to avoid responsibility for the sorrow and devastation caused by his war lies.”
p.s. CND is still asking for donations! (see their website)
